I agree with JIM,,, anyone should be welcome to post here! As to RUMORS, I understand that GPA posted notices at the airport about a fuel boycott. These were removed by Golden State as reported by several pilots. Are we going to continue to pay outrageous prices? Lets all do our small part by wisely spending our aviation budgets. Shop around for better prices and fly further and more often for the same price! Don't contribute to Richard and Steve's FAT RETIREMENT PLAN! |

GPA did NOT post any notices about a fuel boycott! If members were to agree to any action, it would have been discussed at a GPA meeting and an email would have been sent to everyone. For some time now, GPA members have been talking to Steve at Golden State about the high fuel prices in an attempt to get a discount or overall reduced prices. (We talked to Royal Jet also.) According to Howard Merritt, Golden State is now offering a 5% discount on all fuel purchased at the BP self-serve island when a special Golden State card is swiped thru the new reader. The new "smart" card is free and must be picked up at the office. The price for 100LL at the pump was $2.64/gal as of Tuesday 7/15. With the card it came out at $2.51/gal. On the same day, the price pumped by Royal Jet and Golden State's trucks was $2.84. Compare Golden State's smart card self-serve with other self-serves and truck prices at SEE and other airports, then get your fuel where you choose.

Great, now if they will only offer fuel at COMPETATIVE prices. Were you people born yesterday? Without any special cards, or membership in any orgization, you can buy fuel at Corona for 2.09 which is only 42 cents a gallon cheaper (8.40 for 20 gallons to Richard's retirement fund). OR anyone can fly to SEVERAL airports like FRENCH VALLEY and pay 2.24 (27 cents or 5.40 to Richard's retirement fund for each 20 gallons). We all LOOK at prices when going into a gas station via automobile, so why not find a "good deal" from an HONEST, RELIABLE and ETHICAL vendor who is anxious for our aviation business. I LIKED the flyer! AND was disappointed to learn that GOLDEN STATE sent its drivers to pick them up before they were read. Further disapointment comes from learning that GPA did not distribute them. It appears the this coincidential discount is TOO LITTLE TOO LATE!

"In this day and age, it does not matter where a person sends his message from." Duh! As you learned a few months ago, It is Impossible to stop anyone from posting, The "Butt Out" comment was meant as a joke. You adding you're two cents to it makes it sound like an attack, do you really think if someone NOT from San Diego read that, that they would be afraid to post ?, I think not. As for the Fuel Boycott, the flyer looked like GPA written all over it. And having Golden State collect the flyers, isn't that like mail theft ? And another rumor about GPA talking to Golden State, I heard that GS totally bamboozled the guy by showing him the wrong books, and trying to sell him an old fuel truck so he could give discounts to everyone, after he bought at a discount from GS. He never even got actual numbers of what that discount would be. He was obviously not an accountant and had the wool pulled over his eyes. And the GPA still doesn't realize it. Oh! also it is real easy to raise the price of fuel 10 percent and then offer a 5 percent discount. |
